Ukrainian violinist Solomiya Ivakhiv made her debut as a soloist with Lviv Philharmonic Symphony Orchestra at the age of 13. She is a winner of S. Prokofiev and Y. Kocian International Competitions, recipient of F.Kreisler Gold Medal from the Curtis Institute of Music and Award in Classical Music from the President of Ukraine. Miss Ivakhiv came to the States to attend on the merit based scholarship at the world-renowned Curtis Institute of Music. There she studied with Joseph Silverstein and Pamela Frank. Solomiya won an annual audition for the Concertmaster of The Curtis Symphony Orchestra and is the first Ukrainian to hold this post in the 80th history of the Institute.

 

Miss Ivakhiv performs in well-known series and festivals, including Strings in the Mountains, Colorado; Tanglewood Music Festival; Prussia Cove in England; Holland Music Festivals in the Netherlands; Normandy Chamber Music Festival, France and many others throughout Europe and America.  She solos with the Lviv Philharmonic, International Symphony and Curtis Chamber Orchestras and just recently with Hunan Symphony Orchestra, P.R. of China. Her performances are broadcast on National Public Radio, Voice of America Radio Station and Ukrainian National Radio and Television and Hunan TV.

 

Miss Ivakhiv has extensive experience as a soloist and chamber musician and has collaborated with artists such as Claude Frank, Joseph Silverstein and Steven Isserlis.

Currently, Miss Ivakhiv is a principal second violinist for the Chamber Orchestra of Philadelphia and a guest concertmaster with Fresno Philharmonic.
