WINS GOLD BOOK ONLINE AWARD OF EXCELLENCE
FROM THE VOLUNTEER COUNCIL OF THE
LEAGUE OF AMERICAN ORCHESTRAS
FOR OUTSTANDING VOLUNTEER PROJECT
A High Definition Interactive Video Enhancement for “The Span=
ish
Trail Suite”
The Volunteer Council of the League of American
Orchestras is pleased to announce that the Friends of Music Guild has won
an Award of Excellence in the annual Gold Book Online competition for their
project entitled, “A High Definition Interactive Video Enhancement for
‘The Spanish Trail Suite.’” Many organizatio=
ns
benefited from this impressive project, including the
Orchestra of Southern Utah, the Old Spanish Trail Association, and Cedar City, Utah. The Orchestra gained a fabulous ad=
dition
to its Symphony repertoire, The Spa=
nish
Trail Suite by Marshall McDonald and Steven Sharp Nelson. The project’s focus on local
history has encouraged national and international tourism for Cedar City
and the Old Spanish Train Association.&nbs=
p;
The audiences who have and will=
view The Spanish Trail Suite Video
Enhancement have a unique Old West experience, thanks to the magnificent fi=
lm
performances by the Paiute Tribe and various community members.<=

The
project was sponsored by the Cedar City RAP
tax, Cedar City/Brian Head Tourism Board, Utah Arts Council, and Sterling &=
amp;
Shelli Gardner
Foundation. The Friends of Music Guild supports the Orc=
hestra
of Southern Utah. The award w=
ill be
presented at the National Performing Arts Convention this June in Denver, Colorado.
The annual Gold Book Online competition recognizes
outstanding projects created and executed by volunteer associations of symp=
hony
orchestras throughout the United
States and in Canada. Projects are judged by the
League’s Volunteer Council
each fall. All of the submitt=
ed
projects will be featured online at www.goldbookonline.org.

comprised of recognized community leaders throughout the United States
and Canada
who have demonstrated outstanding support for their symphony orchestras.&nbs=

The Volunteer Council’s awards honor volunteers who, throu=
