to be Held
Harps on Ledges will perfor=
m on Wednesday,
August 6th at 7:30 pm in the Thorley Recital Hall in the SUU Music Building. The concert, sponsored b=
y the
Orchestra of Southern Utah, will feature 16 harps from Salt Lake City. Harps on Ledges is a tour group of=
16
Suzuki harp students, ages 11-18, coming from the studios of Megan Visser,
Rachel Smith-Mills, and Anamae Anderson in Northern Utah. The suggested
donation for the concert is $10 adults and $5 students. Donations will benefit the Orchest=
ra of
Southern Utah. The concert is=
open
to adults and children over the age of six. OSU requests that babies and child=
ren
under the age of six not attend; the performance will be recorded and podca=
st
worldwide.
The
students will be performing a delightful medley of classical, jazz, Irish a=
nd
Spanish songs. Each piece shows the versatility of the harp and the
performers’ ability to play different styles and genres of music. The
concert opens with some Irish favorites, including
"Danny Boy," accompanied by local Suzuki violinists. Suzuki voice
students
join the harps later in the program for an entertaining set of
"critter" songs about alligators, fruit bats, and a goldfish named
Gremlin. The concert closes with Baroque Flamenco--a dazzling Spanish dance
piece by jazz harpist Deborah Henson-Conant.

p.m. Following the concert in Cedar City,
the tour will travel to Z=

National Park for an
outdoor concert at the O.C. Tanner Amphitheater on Friday, August 8 at 8:00 p.m. Harps on Ledges w=

conclude their concert tour at Tuacahn, where they will give pre-s=
how performance
for Les Miserables on Saturday, August 9 at 7:00 p.m. For more information
