Area Musicians Invited To Perform In Recital Series<= /p>

The Orchestra of Southern U= tah is currently inviting area musicians to sign up for their 12^th Annu= al Fall Recital Series. This ser= ies features adult musicians and advanced students from = Southern Utah. Performanc= es will take place Tuesday evenings, September 2^nd through October = 7^th at St. Jude’s Episcopal Church in Cedar City. “This beautiful edifice is an acoustical gem,” stated Recital Director Sara Penny. “The inverted ark design lends itself beautifull= y to small ensembles and voices.” These evening performances will also be recorded by OSU Media Specia= list Ken Hedgecock and podcast worldwide at orchestraofsouthernutah.org.

Each recital will have a theme. The September 2^nd= recital is entitled “Basically Baroque”, though other eras are = also represented. The recital on September 9^th, “American Popular”, will focus on American music from 1970 to 1990. “Making Music Together” will take place on September 16<= sup>th, and will feature ensembles of three or more. Pieces from the “Classic to = Romantic Era” will be presented on September 23^rd. The recital on September 30^th=, Western Favorites, will highlight the music of the southwestern United States plus the beautiful “Lark Ascending” by Vaughn Williams. The 12^th Annual Recital Series will conclude on October 7^th, with an evening simply titl= ed “Anything Goes.”
