The Orchestra of Southern Utah announces its Ninth Annual Recital Series beginning on Tuesday, Sept. 6, at 7:30 p.m., in St. Jude’s Episcopal Church, 70 North 200 West in Cedar City. Recitals will be held every Tuesday evening until Oct. 11 and will feature a different theme each week.
The first recital of the series,
entitled “Piano Pizzazz,” features local musicians and the usage of the newly
acquired piano at St. Jude’s. Pianist
and composer Todd Seipert will perform original piano compositions. Todd is a second-year Master of Fine Arts
student at Southern Utah University and is a professional graphic designer.
A quartet of young piano students
including Heather Fife, Tyrell Fife, Courtnie Duncan, and Quincey McGuire, will
play an arrangement of “the Battle Hymn of the Republic.” These youth are students of

Anne Andersen combine their talents to present Gilbert and Sullivan’s “Overture
to the Pirates of
The Cedar City String Quartet and pianist Hal Campbell will perform Cesar Franck’s “Piano Quintet.” The string quartet includes LuAnne Brown and June Thorley on violin, Mary MacDonald on viola, and Carol Ann Nyman on ‘cello. All these individuals are or have been members of the Orchestra of Southern Utah, have taught music, and are active musicians within the community.
“We are excited to invite the community to this recital series,” said Sara Penny, recital director. “These recitals are always a great way to support individual musicians, as well as the Orchestra of Southern Utah, as they raise essential funds for the operation of the OSU. ”
