Fall Concert to Feature Guest Artists

&nbs= p; The Orchestra of Southern Utah is pleased to invite the community to its Fall Concert at the Heritage Center, 105 North 100 East, Cedar City, on Saturday, Nov. 6, 2004, at 7:30 PM.

&nbs= p; Special guest artists Linda Wetherill and D.J. Barraclough will be featured as soloists. Ms. Wetherill is an internationally recognized flautist and will perform Mozart’s Flute Concerto in D Major. She = holds degrees from Eastman’s School of Music, Academie d’Ete in Nice, France, and SUNY Stony Brook, and has held posts with the French National Conservatory, Philadelphia University of the Arts, and Turkish Universities= in Izmir, Ankara, and Istanbul. = She has toured around the world and has premiered works by leading composers su= ch as Boulez, Carter, and Stockhausen. Her many appearances include a New York Carnegie debut as winner of = East and West Artists International competition, New York’s Frick Collecti= on, and Washington’s National Gallery of Art.

&nbs= p; D.J. Barraclough, a resident of Hurricane, Utah, will be featured as the soloist= for the Haydn Trumpet Concerto. Mr. Barraclough has toured Japan, Germany, and played on center stag= e at Carnegie Hall in New York with various music groups. He has performed in orchestras throughout Utah including the Utah Symphony, the Southwest Symphony, the Orchestra of Southern Utah, and the pick-up orchestra for Lex De Azevedo.

&nbs= p; The concert will also include Mozart’s “Haffner” Sy= mphony No. 35 in D Major and Russlan and Ludmilla Overture by M.J. Glinka. OSU recently hosted t= he Choral Celebration, held at the Heritage Center that featured choirs from l= ocal high schools, Southern Utah University, and the community. Their Fall Concert will be the fir= st of their 2004-2005 Concert Series at the Heritage Center.

&nbs= p; “We are thrilled to have Ms. Wetherill and Mr. Barraclough joining us for an evening of wonderful music,” says Harold Shirley, OSU Board President. “There is no= t a better way we would like to begin our concert season than with performances= by these outstanding musicians.”

&nbs= p; Season tickets are $25 and are available from Sara Penny, 586-2286. A season ticket permits entrance t= o all the concerts of OSU’s 2004-2005 season. Individual ticket prices are $10 f= or adults, $5 for students and children over six, and $30 for a group of six, = and are available at the Heritage Center Box Office, 865-2882.
