Community Invited to Audition for Handel’s Messiah

 

Auditions for the 2004 Messiah solos will be by tape o= r CD recording only this year.  Sop= rano, alto, tenor, and bass arias are available.=   Those interested in auditioning are asked to send a recording of a Messiah aria, as well as a brief musical resume and a photo, to Laura Lee, = P.O. Box 312, Cedar City, Utah, 84721.  The resume should include a list of all Messiah solo pieces that the individual would be willing or prepared to sing if chosen as a soloist.  The deadline for audition recordin= gs is Friday, October 1, 2004.  For questions, please contact Laura Lee at 867-1271 or 586-8450.

 

The large choir rehearsals begin on Sunday, Oct. 24 at= 7:00 p.m. at the Community Presbyterian Church at 2279 N. W= edgewood, Cedar City.  All community voc= alists are invited to participate in the choir, especially tenors and basses.  Please provide your own music, ava= ilable at Munson’s Music World, 586-8742, and Trouvere<= /span> School of Music, 586-0177.  Ad= rianne Tawa will be conducting the Messiah choir rehea= rsals.

 

The performances will be on Dec. 12 and 13 with Xun Sun conducting.&= nbsp; The Orchestra of Southern Utah will accompany the 64rd Cedar City performance of this holiday classic in the Heritage Center.
